Norwegian Red
Cross operation in Haiti. - In cooperation with Norwegian Red
Cross and UN World Food Programme, Sealift chartered a RORO vessel in March to lift a larger
number of M6-trucks for food distribution purposes in Haiti.
Following the recent flooding in the country, Norwegian Red
Cross opens up a relief operation which involves huge volumes
of cargo to be airlifted to Port au Prince. The latest equipment
in this respect were airlifted by an AN124 from Oslo. |
Blankets and water tanks to
UNICEF Congo. - Norwegian Government responded to a request
from Unicef and a larger air consignment of water tanks and
quilted blankets was dispatched to Kinshasa through Sealift
relief operations. |
Emergency Operations in
Darfur. - Working closely with relief organizations in Sudan,
Sealift organizes transports by air and surface to the Darfur
region. Trucks are landed in N'Djamena, Chad and hospital
supplies, tents and food are airlifted into Nyala, El Fasher and
Abeche. |
